FLOOR FINISH PRODUCTS

ChemCor has been a major supplier to the floor finish industry for over 25 years. We have extensive experience formulating, testing and troubleshooting floor finishes. We supply a wide range of products to some of the largest and smallest finish manufacturers who supply the industrial and household market.

Floor finishes are typically 75%-85% acrylic polymer. These polymers are manufactured by companies such as Rohm & Haas. Finishes (based on solids) typically contain wax emulsions (5%-20%), alkali soluble resins 5%-15%, plasticizer 1%-3%.Wetting agents, cosolvents, defoamers and preservatives make up the balance of the finish. All of these products play an important role in producing a safe, attractive, easy to use and easy to remove finish.

WAX EMULSIONS
Wax emulsions are crucial to getting durability, burnishability, black mark resistance and a safe coefficient of friction(COF), defined as 0.5 or greater as tested with a" James Machine". Wax emulsion choices can also affect the color of the finish. ChemCor manufactures a wide range of wax emulsions to allow as many formulating options as possible. ChemCor makes many of our emulsions alkyl phenol ethoxylate(APEO) free.

RESIN SOLUTIONS
Alkali soluble resins are generally acrylic or pine rosin based. We solution these products with ammonia although other amines can be used upon request. These resins aid in leveling and flow out of of the finish. They also can improve the duability, flexibility, removability, gloss and depth of gloss of the finish. Acrylic resins are typically lighter colored than rosin based resin.

PLASTICIZER/WETTING
Chemcor T-Bep(tributoxyethyl phosphate) is used to plasticize the acrylic polymer and to aid in film formation. Chemcor T-Bep also helps leveling and improves gloss. Chemwet 29 is a fluorinated wetting agent. It is a critical product for wetting the floor and is used at very low levels.
